Core Insight's Toni Scoble says successful individuals often move from 'ambition to meaning' in the latter stages of their career. That often manifests itself in a mentoring role. Smart companies are tapping into that. "They have great intellectual capital and they often leave with it," she says. "The structure of firms is that they hold their contacts and networks pretty tightly so companies have to think along the lines of opening that up, encouraging mentoring and moving down the intelligence."
